There are plenty of dishes to choose from, but if you could squeeze in just one dish, make it their best-selling Nasi Lemak with Chicken Curry + Sambal Prawns ($13.90++). Made with coconut milk and pandan leaves, the light and fluffy rice binds everything else with its mild but creamy flavour.

It’s easy to rack up a bill while dining at Japanese restaurants, but YAYOI has wallet-friendly options so you can have your fill of this Asian cuisine without breaking the bank. Their teishoku, which are basically set meals, are great for sharing.
Don’t worry about big eaters in the family, as this Japanese eatery offers free-flow rice—specifically Kinmemai rice—which is packed with more nutrients.
For those who can’t decide between noodles or rice, you can settle for both with the Sukiyaki Teishoku ($18.90++). This carb-dense dish has a mix of konnyaku and udon noodles, along with tender beef slices and a medley of vegetables simmered in a sweet and piquant soy-based sauce. Thai restaurants are usually not the best option for families with little ones, due to the spice levels of popular dishes such as tom yum and green curry. Priced at $9.80++, the kid’s meals are great value for money and comes with a side of mango pudding and a glass of O.J. or iced Milo.
While the adults are firing up their taste buds with the scrumptious Tom Yum ($7.50++ for a bowl, $14.50++ for a pot), which comes with either seafood, prawn or chicken, children can tuck into dishes from the kid’s menu, such as the Grilled Chicken Chop. Best known for their seafood creations, this family-friendly eatery pushes out more than just your regular chilli crab and salted egg pork ribs.
Sweet with a refreshing fruity zing is the Sunkist Pork Ribs (from $13.80++ for small), which reminded us of marmalade pork.
